Damascus Lodge No. 290 F. & A.M. has met in Milwaukee since June 15, 1905.
Who we are
Damascus is a lodge of Free and Accepted Masons on Milwaukee's south side, chartered on June 15, 1905 by the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin and part of its District 12.
Our brothers come from every walk of life, and some of us are fathers and sons who took the degrees together. We meet to confer the degrees, to learn the old work and to look after one another and our neighbors. We raise money for children at Christmas, deliver food to the pantry, take a turn at the forge and shoot trap together in the summer.
Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest fraternities. It teaches its lessons through the tools and language of the stonemasons who built the cathedrals: the square for virtue, the compasses for restraint, the rough stone made true. Its aim is simple, and it is ours: making good men better.
Becoming a Mason
Freemasons do not recruit. A man becomes a Mason because he asks. If you are a man of good character, at least eighteen years old, and you believe in a Supreme Being, we would be glad to meet you.
The best way to start is to come and talk with us. Find one of our brothers, or send the lodge a message through our page on Mori. The Grand Lodge of Wisconsin also explains the path to membership.
